It's time for another Post about Yerba Mate....

So my fine friends. back to the drink affectionately known as Jungle Juice... Yerba Mate... Terrere... menno weed etc...

so if you see me walking around with a cow horn with a metal straw sticking out of it and a pitcher of ice water this is what it is.

yerba mate is a really great tea that Mennonites picked up when some of us moved to Paraguay. Mate is a very communal drink as it encourages people to sit around a circle and talk while sharing this wonderful goodness.

there are some very important Mate rules that you need to know

1. you recieve Mate from the Maso... he/she is the person designated for pouring the water
2. guampa - this is the horn or cup that you drink it from
3. bambillia - this is the straw that you drink it through
4. yerba - this is the actual tea that you stick in the guampa
5. when you recieve your turn you drink until you hear a slurping noise
6. you don't move the straw unless to get a little better drink
7. when you say thank you, you are saying i am done drinking for now

so yeah if you have Mate Apparel bring it out next wednesday and we'll start a mate circle!!!

Mmmm..... Yerba mate.... I have actually found something that reminds me of it here in Thailand: Fried grasshoppers, except minus the salt and the crunch. So if any of you are craving mate you can come out here to Thailand and try my grasshopper shake. Mmmm....

You can also join me in my new "stay wet" campaign. Ok, ok, it's not really a campaign. It's just what happens when you are here. You step out of your house, and your wet. (From sweat) The funny thing is, is it' s not even the hot season.

Life out here is so much fun, it's full of new adventures everyday. Being a missionary is so much fun! But one thing I learned when I was back in Canada is that you don't have to go to the other side of the world to be a missionary. You can do it right where you are at: in your neighbourhood, at school, wherever. Jesus wants all of us to come on adventures with Him. And wow is it fun when we do!
