this doesn't sound like it is going to work pt. 3
i think that this is going to be the last post in this string of posts, but lastly i want to talk about trouble.
now my friend who i wrote in about was finding him/herself in a situation where people were getting into trouble...i.e. alcohol abuse... what to do.
here is where i come off... if you know that there is going to be trouble at a certain place, and you think that by being there you could get into trouble by association, get out of there... or better yet just let the guys know that hey... i'm not down with drinking so i can't come hang out tonight... i would love to hang out, but i don't think i should... but if you want to do something else, that would be sweet.
i think Jason said it perfectly. let them know how you feel (without being a jerk), and then see if they want to do something else...
following Jesus isn't about what you don't do (although somethings He calls us to avoid) it is about who you are. when people see someone who stands up and does what is right they are seeing who that person is... a little like Jesus...
what are your thoughts? have there been situations that you have had to avoid? have you gotten into any trouble by just being somewhere? (i have)

this is such an awesome point... how do we go to hang out with people to be an influence without bending our beliefs.
there are times to be places that are not too great, but when, how?
i have some thoughts, what do you all think?
I have been in situations where stuff could have gone really bad in a instant. But God has been with me to protect me from getting hurt or in trouble. I remeber I was with a group of people that I usually didnt hang out with. It was a Friday night, and we were bored. So we went to a bowling ally. It was full, so we were standing around outside, then this truck drives by. One of the guys I was with yells "Slow Down Turbo" at the truck. When the driver hears this he stops the truck, and 5 big guys, in there late 20s, jump out of the truck and are ready to fight! We were like 3 guys, in grade 12, and two girls. We were scared. We were lucky to talk our way out of it though. God sure protected us that night. Then we went and were jumping the cars we were driving. We sure were stupid.
It is important to remember that God promised that He would never give us more than we could handle. Rely on God and trust Him. The other thing would be to pray for soem Christain friends to come into your life and encourage you. God will put the right people into your life at the right time. I prayed a long time to have good christian friends around me and God has answered that prayer way better than I could have ever imagined.

The other thing to remember is that with God often stuff doesn't sound like it is going to work. I think maybe that is so we know that it has to be a total God thing. Maybe in the long run it really helps us establish our faith.
