2 Million Candle Power Flashlight

I have this flash light that is shaped light a police radar gun... it has 2 million candle power. that means that it is very very powerful. i can shine it across a soccer field and see clearly. it is so awesome.

sometimes i want to shine it on cars as they drive by to freak them out...but i am scared that they will beat me up, or not think it is as funny as i do.

i think that knowing Jesus is like walking around with a 2 million candle power flashlight. there is this light in you that can shine through incredible darkness, but somehow we put our hand in front of the lens.

in Matthew Jesus tells us to let our light shine before men that they may see our good deeds and praise our father in heaven.

okay...how? how do you let you light shine? what are some ways that we put our hand over the lens and block the 2 million candle power light?

hi it's james we can let our light shine by bringing out the goodness in ourselves,Its a good quality. Examples of this are sharing giving to the food bank helping the poor, sticking up for somebody,or helping around your home .You just have to do good things.

All I know is that if you have that flashlight turned on for awhile, then put your hand over top, you will burn your hand. Ways we cover the light are by having sin, pride, jelousicy, and other things like that in our lifes. We shouldnt want to cover our lights. This world is like walking around in the dark, with giant pits everywhere. We need God, our Light to shine around so we can see these pits, which represent sins. But God is so amazing though. Becuase when we walk around with our lights covered up, and we fall in a pit, no one can get us out. Only God can. And he does, everytime. Ways we can shine our light and show our love for God, is how we act, and treat others. What I wrote somewhat is two diffent types of lights, but thats ok. I think everyone will understand. But if you dont, talk to me, Ill try to expain it.

The most common way is to shine our lights only to other Christians. We keep them within the walls of the church, we only have Christian friends and we fail to "let your lights shine before men so that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." It's too easy to let the light become a bless-me-fest and enjoy the warm glow of thousands of other lights. It's much harder to be a light shining out in the darkness.

jeremy,

i agree with you that Christians need to be more open and honest about their faith.

if i brought my flashlight to the beach with me on a sunny day, it wouldn't be that impressive, but if i came back at 2AM i could shine across the entire lake and see the houses on the other side. if i really wanted people to see how awesome my flashlight was i need to go at night...

maybe we as Christians need to go with people to the darkness in their lives...same beach, just darker

however being with Christians is good... bless-me fests are good. Jesus said that people will know we are His followers by how we love each other... He also prayed that we would be one as He and the Father are one.

just some thoughts...
